Warning lights on your dashboard or strange noises from your car can put a stop to your next road trip adventure from Kinston or New Bern. Before you leave for the open road, you should schedule a visit at our Kinston service center for preventive vehicle maintenance. We’ll make sure your car, SUV or truck is in the best shape for your next road trip so you can cruise the highway like a drag strip.

Road Trip Vehicle Maintenance

Tire Inspection: Your tires maintain constant contact and friction with the road, so gradual wear and tear is bound to happen. Over time, the tread on your tires gets worn down. Before taking a long drive, be sure your tires are properly inflated and find out if any need to be replaced. If you’re unsure if your tire tread is too low to road trip, contact our service department before you hit the road.

Brakes: Like your tires, your brake pads also experience gradual wear and tear. If you’re hearing a screeching or grinding noise when you apply pressure on the brake pedal, you may need new brake pads or new brake fluid.

Battery: If your current car battery is more than a few years old, you’ll want to make sure it’s still functioning properly to avoid getting stranded with jumper cables. Under the hood, you should be able to see the battery terminals marked red and black. It’s important that there’s no corrosion on the terminals and that it’s still got plenty of juice to keep your car running.

Oil Change: Oil lubricates the moving parts of your engine and prevents friction between the pistons. On average, you should replace your oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles. If you haven’t gotten an oil change in a while, be sure to schedule one before your road trip.
