Both the 2021 Jeep Cherokee and the 2021 Toyota RAV4 are thought of as adventure-focused SUVs that are ready to tackle the off-roads of North Carolina. But is this really true? If you’re looking for an SUV that’s just as capable at owning your morning commute as it is on the North Carolina trails, check out this comparison of the Jeep Cherokee and Toyota RAV4 to see which is the better choice.
There are three engine choices available for the 2021 Jeep Cherokee: the base I4 with 180 horsepower, a turbocharged 4-cylinder with 270 horsepower, and a hearty V6 with 271 horsepower and lots of torque. The 2021 Toyota RAV4 only has one engine choice: a 203-horsepower I4. Looking at the off-road performances of these two SUVs, there is a clear front-runner: the Jeep Cherokee. The Cherokee is available with three different four-wheel-drive arrangements, and they all include the Selec-Terrain traction management system. You can also equip the Cherokee with hill descent control, all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension, a skid plate, and a locking differential – all of which are required for the trails. At least one of the four-wheel-drive systems is available on every Cherokee trim level.
The RAV4, on the other hand, has one trim geared towards off-roading that offers all-terrain tires, a skid plate, a different front suspension, and a multi-terrain driving system. Though these features help make the RAV4 suitable for light side-of-the-road adventures, it lacks the true off-roading equipment that Jeep is famous for.
If the extra power and unbeatable off-road performance of the Cherokee haven’t convinced you yet, the massive difference in cabin space might. The 2021 Cherokee has nearly 30 extra cubic-feet of passenger space to keep you and your crew comfortable on all of your adventures. Both SUVs come standard with technology features such as Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto, and both offer a 7-inch digital instrument display in upper trim levels.
There are plenty of safety features to be found in both the 2021 Cherokee and the 2021 RAV4. The standard features in the Cherokee include:

With so many features onboard, you’re sure to feel safe on any road or trail.
